Konecranes contracted to equip container terminal
Konecranes has won a public tender from Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP) to supply container handling equipment for a new container terminal in the port.
Located a few kilometres away from the existing container terminal, in Ydre Nordhavn, the new terminal will welcome eight hybrid straddle carriers in Q4/2023, and two ship-to-shore (STS) cranes are scheduled for delivery in Q1/2025. The order was booked in Q2/2023.
Povl Dolleris Røjkjær Ungar, COO, CMP: "In such a busy port we demand high performance from our equipment, but we also want to be one of the most sustainable ports in the world by 2025.”
As a major provider of material handling solutions, Konecranes has set up "Ecolifting", a plan to decrease its customers’ carbon footprints. The plan will also be applied to the new container terminal. (lh)
