KN assembles Lego hub
Kuehne + Nagel is opening a distribution hub for Lego in Australia, adding 26,000 pallet positions to the toy company’s capacity down under. On an area of 26,500 sqm, the site will assist Lego with its B2C and B2B activities by using automated processes.
Located in Truganina, it gives the company access to the state of Victoria as well as the larger Australian and New Zealand markets. To reduce waste, a carton-reducing technology will be implemented, minimising packaging materials for Lego’s goods.
A solar panel system with 100 kW capacity can further contribute to reducing consumption of electricity. This and further sustainability considerations has earned the hub a five-star rating according to Australia’s green building council standards.
With this partnership, Kuehne + Nagel will support Lego in its growth strategy in the Asia Pacific market, where the toy manufacturer aims to expand its footprint and ramp up distribution. (mk)
