Kloosterboer strikes in Bremerhaven
Rotterdam-based cool chain logistics provider Kloosterboer has acquired Columbus Spedition, a forwarder that specialises in temperature-controlled food logistics, effective May 2021. Kloosterboer recently sold parts of its activities in Scandinavia and is now investing in Germany.
Columbus, which offers loading, unloading and transport of food containers, import and export management, as well as pre- and post transport, belonged to shareholders Frosta Aktiengesellschaft, Würfel Spedition Beteiligung and SLH Sea Life Harvesting.
According to Mark Ketelaar, executive director port cold stores at Kloosterboer, this acquisition is a logical step, since the Dutch company has already been operating the largest public cold store facility in the Bremerhaven port for several years. The cold storage market keeps growing, said Hinrich Windler, CEO of Columbus Spedition. (sh)
