Kenya Railways enhances freight services

50 new wagons were recently flagged off at the Port Reitz freight station in Kenya. They will boost the Madaraka Express freight services, which mainly transport cargo in containers to inland container depots in Nairobi and Naivasha.

The acquisition is part of the commitment to meet the increasing demand for higher capacity cargo transport options, Kenya Railways said.

Kenya Railways currently offers freight transport on both metre gauge and standard gauge railway networks, serving the neighbouring countries of Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, and Burundi. (ben)
