Keeping the pace
Dachser was able to take advantage of the extraordinary positive business conditions for the logistics in FY/2022. The group generated revenues of EUR 8.1 billion (+14.9%) in total. Dachser recorded 8.1 million shipments in 2022, a moderate decline (−2.9%), while tonnage remained stable with 42.8 million t.
The food logistics business line took the lead in 2022, with revenue increasing by 17.1% to EUR 1.3 billion. The European logistics business segment increased its revenue by 13.4%. Amongst other difficulties, the Asia region was hit by "the sputtering growth in China", as the company put it.
Its air and sea logistics business lines finished the year with a 16.7% rise in revenue from EUR 2.1 billion to 2.4 billion, while the number of shipments fell by 7.3%.
The company, which witnessed the second consecutive year of double-digit growth in revenue, currently has 163 warehouse locations on four continents and is planning to add 14 more facilities in 2023. The workforce grew by around 1,100 people in 2022, reaching a total of 32,850 employees.
CEO Burkhard Eling announced that, following the EUR 196 million it invested in 2022, Dachser is planning to invest over EUR 300 million in 2023. (cd) www.dachser.com
