Keep only evil spirits away, not kindly deliverers

Henkerstraße (hangman street), Blutgasse (blood alley), Galgenweg (gallows lane), Killer or, Hexenberg (witch mountain). These are just a few examples of gruesome street names in Germany.

Even if these addresses almost make your blood run cold, DHL delivery staff are not deterred from delivering letters and parcels even on Halloween.

However, DHL asks not to fill the areas in front of letterboxes and front doors with pumpkins, skeletons and witches' brooms. The delivery service argues that the Halloween paraphernalia is only intended to keep the evil spirits away, not friendly postmen and parcel carriers. (ben)
