Kamag contracts Röthlein for spare parts logistics
Kamag, a manufacturer of heavy-lift and specialised vehicles, has contracted Röthlein Logistik to deliver spare parts to its customers. By outsourcing its spare parts logistics, Kamag paves the way for further growth. “Kamag can now concentrate on its core competencies: the design, construction and maintenance of high-quality vehicles for the logistics industry,” says Andreas Müller, Kamag’s head of logistics.
Röthlein Logistik’s warehouses are ready for their new assignment. For the smaller components, the company has an automated storage facility with room for 1,000 spare parts containers and three rack feeders. In keeping with the goods-to-customer principle, the containers are transported by conveyor lines to six order-picking stations with pick-by-light-systems.
A multi-shuttle with room for 4,500 containers is used as a buffer for orders that are put in interim storage and completed by adding other products during the day before being despatched. The logistics company promises that every order is packaged and ready for despatch within 60 minutes – and night express deliveries are available on request. (mw)
