K Line welcomes newbuild
K Line has taken delivery of the “Cape Ace” 100,000-dwt bulker which was completed by Namura Shipbuilding, Imari Shipyard & Works.
The vessel, compliant with the common structural rules for bulk carrier (CSR-BC), has wide shallow hull shape with six cargo holds which allows it to load more cargo compared to Panamax size vessel.
With an electronically controlled engine, the vessel is expected to save fuel consumption and reduce environmental impact. After the delivery, the ship will be engaged in transporting iron ore and coal for a Japanese steel mill under a long-term contract. (cd)
