K Line successful at Fukushima terminal
The first mission for Japan-headquartered K Line's “Grace River" has been completed: the vessel carried Ichthys LNG Project’s first LPG cargo to Japan and discharged it at the Kyushu Fukushima Terminal. The gas was imported into Japan by Astomos Energy Corporation.
Ichthys Project, the first large-scale LNG project according to international standards, is managed by the Inpec Corporation. Around 70% of the project's annual LNG output (8.9 million t) will be supplied to Japanese customers. In addition to LNG, the project will produce LPG (some 1.65 million t per year) and about 100,000 barrels of condensate per day at peak times. The K Line Group will become more heavily involved in shipping those commodities.
The project’s first LNG cargo was transported by K Line's LNG carrier “Pacific Breeze” in October 2018. It is planned that Aframax tankers, operated by the carrier's subsidiary in Singapore, will carry condensate products. (kd)
