Joining forces to deploy e-trucks in California
Uber Freight, Watt EV and Chep are cooperating to deploy electric trucks on select routes in Southern California. As part of this collaboration, Watt EV will provide electric trucking capacity to Uber Freight shippers.
The pilot is Uber Freight’s first EV deployment and combines its network of digitally enabled carriers with Watt EV’s innovative electric fleet and charging infrastructure network.
Chep will be the first shipper to participate in the pilot, prioritising electric capacity on the Southern California route. In addition to the benefits of zero emissions and less engine noise, widespread adoption of e-trucks will decrease the reliance on non-renewable fuels and reduce maintenance costs, Uber said. (ben)
