Joe Biden on the US supply chain
On 27 November 2023, the Biden Administration announced 30 new actions to strengthen US supply chains. The first step has been to establish the White House Council on Supply Chain Resilience, which will include many department secretaries as well as the national security and national economic advisors. Its purpose is to support the administration in creating long-term supply chain solutions.
Additionally, the defence production act will be used to enable the production of essential drugs and medicines to make up for potential shortages. New cross-governmental data sharing will be key to the new actions.
Examples include the department of transportation collaborating with the department of agriculture to optimise the flow of US agricultural goods. (mk)
