Job sharing between rail and road

ÖBB RCG has launched new rail-road transport services for Brau Union and the Spar retail chain in Austria. From the Schwechat brewery, the beverages are trucked on the first mile to the Vienna South Terminal.

The main leg of the journey then involves single wagonload transport to terminals close to the seven Spar warehouses in Austria. The final step of the logistics chain, the last mile, is again handled by trucks. They transport the beverages to the Spar warehouse in Wörgl.

For the service, RCG uses its new curtainsider swap bodies that can be loaded and unloaded from all sides, as well as from above. The RCG has invested in 300 new swap bodies this year. (ben)
