Jaxport handles US military cargo
Nearly 2,500 pieces of US military cargo, including almost 100 aircraft, were recently moved at the Blount Island Marine Terminal run by the Jacksonville Port Authority (Jaxport).
For Jaxport director of cargo sales Alberto Carbera, “the port is providing the operational efficiencies and flexible space to move cargo through based on the unique needs of our military partners.”
Indeed, the US Army’s South Carolina-based 841st Transportation Battalion already commissioned the port to provide stevedoring services by loading a first vessel bound for Europe to support the United States’ commitment to NATO allies and partners. (lh)
