Jaxport gets direct access to Indian Subcontinent
Ocean Network Express's (ONE) new West India North America (WIN) container service has started calling at the Jacksonville Port Authority’s (Jaxport) Blount Island terminal, marking Jaxport’s first direct container service with the Indian subcontinent.
In a weekly rotation, the service connects Jacksonville with Bin Qasim in Pakistan, and Hazira, Nhava Sheva, and Mundra in India, along with New York, Savannah, Charleston, and Norfolk.
Operated by nine vessels with a 7,000 teu capacity each, the new offering aims to enhance Jacksonville's international seaport capabilities and provide new trade opportunities for manufacturers in Florida and the Southeast USA. Main cargoes include electronics, solar panels, perishable foods, textiles, and apparel. (pb)
