It’s a dog’s life...

Greater Good Charities, in partnership with Southwest Airlines, has conducted an emergency airlift of over 100 shelter pets from Long Beach CA to Portland OR (both in the USA).

The pets carried on the emergency flight were in the care of shelters in Los Angeles county prior to the outbreak of the recent fires there. The donated flight created space for injured and lost pets, as communities recover from the greater Los Angeles wildfires.

“We’re committed to supporting both people and animals impacted by disasters,” said Liz Baker, CEO of Greater Good Charities. Southwest Airlines has already collaborated with the NGO on multiple rescue missions, including hurricanes and wildfires, transporting over 400 animals to safe homes.

The Oregon Humane Society will provide medical care and adoption services for the relocated pets. All transports comply with USDA interstate regulations, ensuring safe and responsible rehoming. (ah)
