Italy and China move closer together
Contship Italia and the German company Bahnoperator have introduced a new intermodal rail service from China to Italy. The new offer connects the Contship Lombard hub of Melzo - RHM in Italy with China. A number of terminals are served on this route from China via Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria to Italy. These include Wuhan in China, Dostyk in Kazakhstan and Malaszewicze in Poland, amongst others. Initially, the train will leave every Saturday, with another departure on Wednesdays to be added later this year.
The reference terminal in Melzo also offers a number of integrated services, Contship Italia said. They include customs handling, the intermodal transport service interconnected with the company’s Hannibal network to and from China, last mile deliveries with the new Drive Mybox and the strengthening of the connection with China through the next collaboration with Oceano Gate Group railway.
