Italian islands get closer to mainland
Naples-based Grimaldi Group has launched a new Naples-Cagliari-Palermo ro-pax after winning the relative tender of the Italian ministry of sustainable infrastructures and mobility for long-distance land-based services of territorial continuity.
The new link will be served twice a week from all ports with the ro/pax ferry "Corfù", which has a carrying capacity of 2,256 linear metres for rolling freight. The vessel is equipped with exhaust gas cleaning systems for cutting sulphur and particulate emissions. Her hull is coated with silicone paint to reduce friction, fuel consumption and emissions.
"The Naples-Cagliari-Palermo ro-pax line is a great novelty for our group, which thus confirms its commitment to territorial continuity between mainland Italy and the country’s largest islands, as well as to improving connections between Sicily and Sardinia", stated the Neapolitan group’s managing director Emanuele Grimaldi.
