It's never too late for a first in air cargo
Detroit-based air cargo charter provider USA Jet Airlines, a subsidiary of Ascent Global Logistics, which generates more than USD 1 billion in revenue, has taken delivery of the world's first MD-88 full freighter aircraft last week.
The former Delta Air Lines passenger aircraft had been converted by Aeronautical Engineers. It is the first of 14 acquired by USA Jet Airlines to join its fleet. According to the data base ch-aviation, they are between 28.8 and 34.1 years of age.
The only remaining operators of MD-88s in passenger configuration are Iran's Taban Air with five and Rutaca Airlines from Venezuela with two inactive aircraft, while USA Jet Airlines also operates several converted passenger aircraft (three B727-200F, two MD-83F and one DC-9-30CF) and two DC-9-30F, two DC-9-10F and one DC-9-10RC.
