Irisl plans fleet expansion
According to the Iranian press, the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines' (Irisl) managing director Mohammadreza Modares-Khiabani has stressed the importance of self-sufficiency in the development of the national fleet. Thus, the liner is going to pursue building new vessels in the current year in Iranian wharfs.
Modares-Khiabani: "The Irils achieved historical records last year; however, the continuation of this trend must be accompanied by great strides in the development of the fleet."
Special emphasis will be placed on the north-south corridor and the presence of the fleet in the port of Chabahar. The items and parts required for the construction will be supplied primarily by domestic manufacturers. (sh)
