Iran inaugurates a main railway link
The newly opened 270 km long stretch connects the Yazd province in the centre with the Fars province in the south of the country. It is one of the most important railway projects in Iran in the north-south railway corridor, the state-owned news agency Irna said.
Freight trains can run with a speed of 120 km per hour along the route. Between 20 March and 20 May 2024, rail and road transit volumes grew by 57% compared to the same period in 2023. (ben)
