Investing in intermodal services in Turkey
Arkas Logistics, Duisport and Hupac recently signed a service contract for intermodal transport. Two-way train services between Halkali (Turkey) and Duisburg terminals (Germany) will be introduced to enhance the offer of freight transports to multiple European countries including Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, and Germany, the partners said.
To expand its services, Arkas is also investing EUR 38.5 million in five Euro Dual locomotives manufactured by Stadler Rail, which are scheduled for delivery in 2025.
In 2024, Arkas and Duisport plan to jointly open the land terminal Railport in Kartepe, in Turkey’s Marmara region, where Arkas already handles transports between China and Europe along the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) rail line. (ben)
