Intersport's omnichannel logistics concept
The Hamburg-based Intersport Group, which has more than 1,000 affiliated retailers in the B2B sector in Germany, has put its logistics on a new footing.
The central warehouse in Heilbronn has been gradually expanded since 2018 in keeping with the company’s omnichannel strategy. Here, Intersport worked with the Hamburg-based consultancy company Fortna-Pierau to develop an intralogistics concept that was implemented over five project stages while the warehouse remained in operation.
With the integration of new shuttle picking stations and automatic carton erectors, the logistics expansion was successfully completed in 2022.
Next to the existing building, a new high-bay warehouse with a floor area of 6,000 sqm and a height of 36 m was built on 10,000 sqm of additional logistics space. With a capacity of 120,000 cartons and 40,000 storage spaces in the shuttle warehouse, Intersport now has 160,000 additional storage spaces at its disposal. (sh)
