Internet thwarts aircraft
The delivery of the second wide-body aircraft for Uganda's new national carrier Uganda Airlines, is taking its time. After the handover of the first A330-800 a month ago (photo), the second aircraft should have arrived today, 25 January 2021, thus concluding the order.
But the delivery had to be postponed to 2 February. For once, the delay is not due to the coronavirus. Instead, the ministry of transport blames "problems of communication" which arose from a five-day shutdown of the internet in the East African country that held presidential elections on 14 January.
Uganda Airlines, which hitherto has covered the African continent with four CRJ-900, intends to fly the Airbus aircraft to destinations like Guangzhou, Mumbai, Dubai and London. (ah)
