International model warehouse underway
No fewer than eleven companies from three countries plan to develop a reference warehouse that can be operated fully autonomously for 48 hours. With this premise, the “Network Logistics Switzerland” association recently launched its four years innovation programme for an “intelligent dark warehouse”. The basic task is to find out just how many processes can be automated.
ABB, Balance Drive, Gilgen Logistics, Miebach Consulting, Rapp Industrial Planners and Westernacher Consulting have formed a “special interest group”.
Other companies involved in the project are Alloga, Emmi and Ikea as well as science partners Logistikum Switzerland, the University of Applied Science of Upper Austria and the Technical University Munich. (sh)
