Intermodal terminal in Phoenix now open
The new terminal is owned by the US class I railway Union Pacific (UP). It connects the Southwest with international ports in Southern California and introduces an intermodal service between the Los Angeles Basin and Phoenix. Duncan & Son Lines will provide the necessary drayage at the terminal.
The facility will source international shipping containers from the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, as well as UP’s ICTF Intermodal Terminal. The new service intended to reduce emissions and remove trucks from California and Arizona’s already congested highways.
Construction will continue throughout 2024, which will include driveway striping, lighting, surface hardening, and an office building, UP said. (ben)
