Intermodal service from Kaunas launched
Samskip has successfully completed the first trials for its new intermodal rail service from Kaunas in Lithuania. Together with its partner LTG Cargo, the transport company will now operate rail services between the Kaunas Intermodal Terminal and Samskip’s rail hub in Duisburg.
The new train will run four times a week. It will be incorporated into the Baltic Sea network and focus on services to-and-from UK, Ireland, Norway, Germany’s Ruhr region and the Benelux countries.
According to Samskip, the additional capacity will offer its customers competitive connections to-and-from Kaunas, the country’s industrial centre, and its capital Vilnius. (ben)
