Intermodal sector benefits from increased activity in Poland
After Rail Time Polska was taken over by Austrian ÖBB RCG in autumn 2019, the Polish carrier was renamed to Rail Cargo Carrier – Poland. Now ÖBB RCG has started providing its own traction services in Poland.
The rail company bridges the gap on freight corridor 8 for transports from the North Sea ports to Poland, Russia and on to Asia. ÖBB RCG also connects Poland's industrial centres with the Adriatic ports and southern Europe via freight corridor 5.
In addition to the steel sector, the intermodal sector in particular benefits from RCG's new activities in Poland. The key advantage: the cross-border use of locomotives shortens transport times for end-to-end deliveries. (ben)
