Intermodal network for P400 trailers
With the start of regular traffic through the Ceneri base tunnel in Switzerland yesterday, Sunday, 13 December 2020 (see ITJ Daily of Friday, 11 December), and the subsequent opening of a 4 m corridor through the Gotthard, Hupac seizes the opportunity for new railfreight services in the canton of Ticino.
From the Swiss terminals Stabio and Chiasso, the Swiss provider of intermodal services as of now deploys only trains that can convey P400 semitrailers as well.
The new intermodal network for P400 trailers includes, among other advantages, daily departures from Aarau and Basel.
Furthermore, it offers gateway connections to the ports in Antwerp (Belgium) and Rotterdam (the Netherlands) and thus to maritime traffic across the globe, as well as links to Cologne (Germany) and beyond as far as Scandinavia. With the trains suitable for P400 trailers Hupac can ship all kinds of cargo, including dangerous goods ADR. (ben)
