Intermodal leads the way in HHLA's Q1/2019
Hamburger Hafen und Logistik (HHLA) reported satisfactory results in the first three months of the year. Improvements in container transport and property management led to a revenue of EUR 347.6 million (+10.3%).
The operating result (ebit) rose significantly by EUR 11.8 million or 24.5% to EUR 59.7 million. In the container segment, volume surged slightly by 2.2 % to 1.87 million teu, to which the development of the international terminals in Tallinn (Estonia) and Odessa (Ukraine) contributed. Revenue for the segment increased by 4.8 % year-on-year in the first three months to EUR 200.9 million.
This was due to a temporary increase in storage fees and a further rise in the rail share. HHLA’s transport companies saw growth in the intermodal segment, rail and road, with an increase of 13.7 % to almost 400,000 teu. (kd)
