Intermodal China – Central Asia service launched
The first block train consisting of 25 containers with electrical products left for Turkmenistan from the Lanzhou in Gansu province (China) on 5 June 2023. The cargo is scheduled to arrive at its destination after a 15-day journey.
The train runs along the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan transport corridor. The newly launched intermodal route will use road haulage on the section Kashgar (China)-Irkeshtam (Kirgisia)-Osh (Kirgisia)-Andijan (Usbekistan), while rail will transport the containers from the Chinese seaports and provinces to Kashgar.
In Kashgar, the cargo will be transloaded and handled for further transportation. The new transport corridor is 320 km shorter than alternative routes through Khorgos and Dostyk (Kazakhstan). (ben)
