Inland service for imports into Oman and Yemen
Maersk and the Omani port of Salalah are launching a new truck service to the Al-Mazyouna free zone in Oman. Designed to facilitate inland services, the new offer includes secure customs clearances and bonded trucking between Salalah and the Al-Mazyouna free zone under carrier haulage. An initial trial shipment was loaded in Ningbo (China) and arrived in Mazyouna after a 25-day journey.
The new corridor will help Omani and Yemeni importers to reduce costs and transit time, the partners said. The port of Salalah acts as a gateway to Yemen and the current initiative, in partnership with Maersk, ensures seamless cargo movement. (ben)
