Inland seaport at Rotterdam enhanced
The port of Rotterdam authority (the Netherlands) will invest about EUR 3.5 million into the further development of the Dordrecht Inland Seaport Wilhelminahaven.
The existing mooring buoys will be replaced by five new certified mooring buoys with a traction capacity of 200 t and will also allow bigger vessels to load and unload larger quantities of merchandise simultaneously.
The upgrade will help the port meet rising demand for increased handling capacities for bulk cargo and more waterfront plots. Around 30,000 deep-sea vessels and 120,000 inland barges pass through the port of Rotterdam per year. (kd)
