Inland port of Passau gearing up

A new LHM 420 mobile harbour crane has officially commenced operations at the inland port of Passau (Germany). The hoisting equipment is able to handle single loads weighing up to 120 t – almost double as much as its predecessor. The crane is suitable for lifting bulk, general cargo, heavylift items and containers.

In addition, the quay rail tracks have been extended by around 280 m to some 880 m – the full length of the quay. The upgrade comes some ten years after the trimodal port in Passau was opened. The storage capacity for bulk goods was also augmented from two to ten silos, giving a total capacity of approximately 1,800 cbm.

The German port operator Bayernhafen has locations in Aschaffenburg, Bamberg, Nuremberg, Roth, Regensburg and Passau (all Germany). (kd)
