India’s automobile transport booming


Indian Railways achieved freight loading volumes of 634.66 t between 1 April 2023 and 31 August 2023, which is 13.78 t more than in the corresponding period last year.

 

At +26%, automotive transport by rail posted the largest increase. Earnings from the automobile showed a jump of 24.5% compared to the corresponding period of 2022, Indian Railways said.

 

Iron ore volumes in the same period reached 70.84 t, a growth of 15.56%. Pig iron and finished steel amounted to 28.42 t, up 8.63%. Container services recorded 34.31 t (+5.22%) and POL (port of loading) in the same period was 20.59 t, a rise of 3.41%. (ben)
