Indiana River & Rail Terminals launched
The new business venture in the USA is a partnership between Ports of Indiana and Superior River Terminals Indiana. It brings multiple barge, rail and warehouse facilities of the two ports under one operator and will manage all the general cargo facilities at the Jeffersonville and Mount Vernon ports.
The newly formed company Indiana River & Rail Terminals is the largest general cargo operation on the Ohio River, the two partners said.
To support the venture, Ports of Indiana is building two new rail yards and adding a USD 3 million heavy-lift crane which will arrive in 2025. The terminals have a storage and fleeting capacity for 300 railcars and 500 barges. (ben)
