Indian naval ship rules 2023 unveiled
The Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) has launched the 'rules for construction and classification of Indian naval ships 2023.' They were officially presented during the naval commanders’ conference 2023 in New Delhi, in the presence of top military officials, including the chief of defence staff and chief of naval staff.
The 2023 edition of these rules incorporates the latest international requirements and reflects technological advancements in naval ship design. They were developed in collaboration with the Indian Navy's technical directorates.
Currently, the IRS is responsible for classifying 39 major vessels under construction for the Indian Navy, spanning various types of ships. The IRS naval rules 2023 demonstrate the close cooperation between the IRS and the Indian Navy in pursuit of self-reliance, with a commitment to efficient naval shipbuilding. (pb)
