Indian carrier spices up cargo services
Spicejet operated its first B737 freighter service to Singapore last week, carrying critical medical equipment and Covid-19 related medical supplies.
Until then, the Indian airline had transported over 1,500 t of cargo carrying essential supplies since the nation-wide lockdown began and says it "has been extending all possible support to the government, medical and pharma companies and international retailers."
The airline has also operated cargo charters to Abu Dhabi, Kuwait and other countries taking perishables and helping Indian farmers maintain continuity of their supply chains.
SpiceXpress, SpiceJet’s dedicated cargo arm, also operated the country’s first cargo-on-seat flight carrying vital supplies in the passenger cabin on 7 April, using also the overhead bins of their B737. (ah)
