India: deal for mega-container terminal signed
Deendayal Port Authority and DP World have signed a concession agreement for the development of a 2.19 million teu mega-container terminal at Kandla in Gujarat, India.
The joint venture between DP World and India's national investment and infrastructure fund, Hindustan Infralog Private Limited, will construct the terminal under a build-operate-transfer basis for 30 years, extendable by 20 years.
With a budget of approximately USD 510 million, the state-of-the-art terminal will accommodate large vessels and connect to transport networks, serving Northern, Western, and Central India. This project supports India's national infrastructure pipeline and sustainability goals. (pb)
