Increasing the B777 freighter network
Starting today, 9 January 2024, Ethiopian Airlines is operating a new weekly freighter service between its Addis Ababa hub and Casablanca, Morocco. The East African carrier’s first Maghreb maindeck destination, its 34th in Africa, is served by a widebody B777-200 freighter.
Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services currently covers 67 dedicated freighter services deploying 17 freighter aircraft.
Last month, Ethiopian Airlines announced a USD 450 million loan agreement with Citi that will finance five new Boeing aircraft: three B737-8 and further two B777F. The five new aircraft bolster Ethiopian Airline’s fleet to 150 in total. The carrier aims to grow its fleet to over 270 aircraft by 2035. (ah)
