Europa delivers exam papers to Malawi. A consignment that was time-critical in more ways than one had to be shipped from Abu Dhabi (UAE) to Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi, recently. The Dubai branch of ‘Europa Air & Sea’, founded two years ago, completed the task on time.

A crucial logistics poser had to be resolved recently before pupils in Malawi could sit their exams in July this year. A printer from Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) mandated with producing the exam papers experienced delays and additional costs. To resolve these issues it sought the support of a local expert with a global reach.

The printer selected the Dubai branch office of the ‘Europa Air & Sea’ unit, the sea and airfreight department of the Europa Worldwide Group from the UK. The team in Europa’s Emirati branch recently completed its second year in business.

Nathan Lynn, the general manager of ‘Europa Air & Sea’ in Dubai, explained that “the problem for our customer was the overall timeframe for the handling of the cargo. The time between the exam papers being printed and students actually taking the exam had to be kept at a minimum, due to the risk of them being leaked.

The customer had previously incurred unexpected fees and hidden costs when it had inquired about services from another provider, he continued, on account of the complexities of chartering aircraft.

Furthermore, Europa faced the additional challenge of the two-day celebration of Eid al-Adha, Islam’s Feast of Sacrifice, which required special planning. Europa pulled out all the stops and all of its project cargo experience to clear the shipments for export from Abu Dhabi. The service provider managed all of the ground-handling requirements and ensured that the cargo was received, screened and loaded into the aeroplane in a very short time.

Europa additionally ensured that the cargo on board the aircraft was dispatched to its recipient, the Malawi National Examination Board, twelve hours after collection. The consignee managed the distribution to schools and colleges in the country from Lilongwe international airport in the capital of Malawi.
