Implementing automation in Italy
Dematic has provided an Italian specialist for industrial automation, system integration and information technology with an automation solution that is set to cut picking time by almost 50%.
The Atlanta (GA, USA)-based company recently delivered and installed its Autostore system for Righi Elettroservizi, which is aiming to minimise the risks of global supply chains by increasing its operational efficiency. To cope with longer lead times, the company is also planning to expand its stock.
Dematic’s solution provides a capacity for 5,800 containers and features seven R5 robots, two picking ports, and one storage carousel port. By operating on multiple levels, the system does not require extra floor space. After an eleven-month implementation period, it can complete the picking process in 35 seconds. The new process boosts efficiency and material transparency, Dematic said. (mk)
