IDS celebrates 20 years of its central hub
IDS Logistik is currently celebrating the 20th anniversary of its central hub in Neuenstein near Bad Hersfeld in Hesse.
The IDS hub started in 2003, transhipping 280 t of cargo every night, today it averages 800 t, at peak times over 1,200 t. In Germany’s geographical centre, conveniently located on the A7/A4 motorways, about 70 employees handle about 3,500 consignments every night at the IDS central hub.
Here, the trucks of the currently 54 IDS depots meet and exchange their consignments within a few hours, so that the desired goods travel from Rosenheim to Rostock within 24 hours.
In 2019, the hall of the central hub was expanded by 3,000 sqm and 23 new gates. Today, 8,200 sqm of handling space and 105 gates provide sufficient capacity for the further expansion of the general cargo network. (cj)
