Idea designs reusable packaging
Logistics specialist Idea has designed a customised reusable packaging solution for aircraft doors of the Airbus A320, meeting Latécoère’s requirements for protection, durability and logistics performance.
Idea’s engineering team designed over 200 metal cases to transport and store passenger doors and hinges. Replacing single-use wooden crates, the new packaging offers an estimated 20-year lifespan, reducing waste and improving cost efficiency, as the company states.
The design includes locking mechanisms and technical foam supports to prevent movement and minimise damage risks. According to Idea the project followed a “rigorous process” of technical study and modelling, prototyping and real-world testing with Latécoère before final production and deployment. (js)
