ID Logistics plans trimodal facility on the Rhine
ID Logistics is expanding one of its German locations as part of its worldwide real estate strategy. In the trimodal inland shipping port of Germersheim (Rhineland - Palatinate) the contract logistics specialist intends to set up a 23,000 sqm area for sustainable new buildings for trade, e-commerce, industry and dangerous goods.
The company plans to dismantle the existing building, which, by today's standards, is no longer energy efficient. A high-bay warehouse that is no longer in use will also be taken down. Construction work for the new 23,000 sqm logistics complex is scheduled to begin in 2020.
The logistics areas, which lie in immediate vicinity to a transhipment hub for barges, railways and trucks, should be available for use by 2021. For export and import traffic in particular, the Rhine port Germersheim offers several direct rail links per week to and from large European seaports such as Rotterdam (the Netherlands) and Antwerp (Belgium).
