ICTSI's EJMT terminal opens in Indonesia
The East Java Multipurpose Terminal (EJMT), operated by International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI), has officially opened in Lamongan Regency, Indonesia, following 18 months of construction. It features a 300 m quay, a deep-water draft of 13.5 m, and state-of-the-art equipment, including two large post-Panamax mobile harbour cranes.
Positioned strategically near industrial centres and Lamongan Shorebase, EJMT is set to serve both domestic and international trade needs, benefiting industries in Lamongan, Tuban, and Central Java. It aims to reduce logistics costs, support larger vessels, and improve the efficiency of cargo handling for diverse sectors, including oil and gas.
Additionally, the terminal's proximity to the 500-hectare I-Sentra industrial park is expected to attract new investments and strengthen East Java's industrial growth. Its advanced infrastructure supports the region’s economic ambitions while promoting sustainability through reduced supply chain costs and lower greenhouse gas emissions. (pb)
