ICTSI milestone: large vessel in Latin America
The arrival of the CMA CGM “Alexander Von Humboldt” at Contecon Manzanillo S.A. (CMSA) in Mexico and then at Sociedad Puerto Industrial Aguadulce (SPIA) in Colombia marks a significant milestone for International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) in Latin America.
This 396 m long vessel is the first of its size to operate a regular service in the region, showcasing the handling capabilities of CMSA and SPIA for larger vessels. The vessel operates the Asia Central South America 1 (ACSA 1) service, connecting Asia and Latin America.
This event highlights Mexico's role in global trade and reflects CMSA's commitment to contribute to the national economy. It reinforces SPIA’s position in the Colombian Pacific, offering the experience, capacity, and infrastructure to adapt to evolving maritime dynamics. ICTSI operates 32 terminals globally, including eight in the Americas region. (pb)
