IAPH names winners of sustainability awards
The International Association of Ports and Harbours (IAPH) has announced the winners in seven categories which honour efforts to support its world ports sustainability programme.
MPA Singapore won in the category “resilient digital infrastructure” for its “digital port ecosystem”; Port of Kaohsiung in the category “resilient physical infrastructure” for its master plan 2017-2021; Port of Rotterdam in “climate and energy” for its zero emission services; the Hamburg Port Authority in “community outreach & port city dialogue, social dimension” for its HomePORT; and Port of Açu won in the same category but in the “environmental dimension” for its project “protecting sea turtles”; again the Port of Açu in “health safety and security” for the project “together in the fight against Covid-19”; as well as DP World in “governance and ethics” for its “global education programme”.
IAPH managing director Patrick Verhoeven: “This year, 64 projects were submitted by 37 IAPH member ports from 21 countries, the highest ever number of submissions since the awards began. The quality of these submissions was also extremely high, leaving our international expert jury with a great deal of work to go over all the projects in detail and score on the parameters.” (amh)
