IAG Cargo returning to Pakistan
IAG Cargo started operating a direct service from the UK to Islamabad (Pakistan) this month. The thrice-weekly service from London Heathrow will run year-round and offer 15 t of lift per flight.
The new option will bolster the airline's position in the region, adding to the cargo operator's 300+ weekly flights to and from Asia. It will see IAG Cargo return to the Pakistani market after a number of years, and will see the airline’s newest aircraft, the Boeing B787-8, deployed. It offers a temperature-controlled hold, ideal for increased demand for pharmaceutical shipments expected on the route.
The capital of Pakistan is one of three new routes to be introduced by IAG Cargo in 2019, the other new additions being Pittsburgh PA (USA) and Osaka (Japan). (ah)
