Hydrogen tech at Valencia port
Valencia's port is pioneering hydrogen technology in Europe by introducing the world's first hydrogen powered reachstacker and 4×4 terminal tractor. This marks a significant step in the H2 Ports project, which aims to implement hydrogen and fuel cell technologies in ports.
The reachstacker, developed by Hyster, and a 4x4 terminal tractor developed by Atena, are the world's first to be tested in real port terminal operations. Along with a mobile hydrogen supply station, they were publicly demonstrated at the MSCTV and Valte (Grimaldi Group) terminals, showcasing their efficiency in real operating conditions.
Pilot tests will run until December 2024, marking a significant advancement in sustainable port operations. The project, which involves a total investment of EUR 4 million, includes the collaboration of various partners and is financed by the clean hydrogen partnership programme. (pb)
