Hydrogen production in Nantes waters
Preparations for the production of hydrogen at sea are underway: Lhyfe, a producer of green hydrogen for mobility and industry, is currently getting ready to deploy its solutions on a European scale.
Lhyfe inaugurated the first site for the production of hydrogen from onshore wind turbines in September 2021 and is now launching the production of hydrogen at sea in Nantes, France.
At the end of the quayside test phase, the Sealhyfe platform will integrate the Sem-Rev offshore testing area, off the coast of Le Croisic, about 20 km from the coast. The device will then be supplied with electricity by the floating wind turbine installed within the offshore test site in 2018.
Together, Plug Power and Lhyfe have developed the first electrolyser capable of operating on a floating platform. The first trial phase will run for six months. Sealhyfe has the capacity to produce up to 400 kg of renewable green hydrogen a day, equivalent to 1MW of power. (sh)
